Cardinals Split Doubleheader with Whitehall

The Cardinals got their first win of the season with a 2-1 win over Whitehall in the first game of the doubleheader. Senior, Luis Suarez went the distance while striking out 11 Vikings. The Cards scored their runs in the 5th inning as Kris Veen hit a RBI Double followed by a single that scored Veen.
Casey Huizenga suffered the loss on the mound for Whitehall, allowing two runs on three hits in six innings while also striking out 11 hitters. The Vikings (1-1) were led by Ethan Schaeffer and Judd VanBergen with two hits apiece.
In Game 2 the Vikings were led by VanBergen and Derek McCollom with two hits each while Huizenga knocked in the game-winning run with a single. Schaeffer picked up the win in relief for Whitehall, allowing one run on two hits in three innings. The Cardinals were led by AJ Anderson with an RBI and run scored while Veen doubled in a run.
