Ke’Ontae Barnes’ 40 points, Darius Williams’ triple-double fuel OV

February 13, 2021

Ke’Ontae Barnes poured in 40 points to ignite Orchard View to a 92-63 victory over visiting Fremont on Saturday. The 6-foot senior all-state guard made 19 of 30 shots from the floor, including 17 of 20 inside the 3-point arc, plus he had five assists, three steals and two rebounds as the Cardinals improved to 3-0.

Meanwhile, OV junior point guard Darius Williams posted a triple-double with 14 points, 11 assists, 11 steals and seven rebounds to form an explosive 1-2 punch with Barnes.

Orchard View led 25-12 after the first quarter and 50-29 at halftime. The Cardinals made 10 3-pointers in the game.

“Our goal was to keep Ke’Ontae Barnes out of the paint, but he got in at will on drives and also in transition,” Fremont coach Peter Zerfas said. " … Bottom line is, they were able to run out in transition much better than us and also shot better from range.”

Orchard View’s JJ Tunstull finished with 15 points, five assists and four steals. Stephon Oakes had 10 points and three rebounds for the Cardinals, while Owen Swanson added six rebounds.

Braiden McDonald had his second-straight big game with 29 points and eight rebounds for Fremont (1-2), while Joshua Zerfas had 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

The Cardinals, are 3-0 on the young season and will be back in action as they travel to Manistee for a Lakes 8 Conference tilt.
