The Western Michigan Christian volleyball team overcame an early deficit and rallied to beat Ludington in five sets in the finals of the Lakes 8 Conference Tournament on Saturday.
The Warriors won the first set over Ludington 25-13, lost the next two (22-25 and 20-25), then won the fourth set 25-19 and the tie-breaker 15-12. The Orioles had leads in both the fourth and fifth sets, but WMC fought back and won each time.
WMC reached the finals by beating Orchard View 3-0.
Ludington beat Muskegon Catholic in three sets to reach the finals. De’Lhana Poter and Zoee Zalarga each had 10 kills in the tournament for the Orioles.
Orchard View finished third. The Cardinals beat Manistee and Muskegon Catholic in straight sets, before losing to Western Michigan Christian. This is OV's highest conference finish in several years and bodes well for the future as they only lose two seniors.
